Would you like to develop a profession that combines technology, training, and social impact?

At ONCE, we are launching a Training Talent Program aimed at graduates interested in specializing in Assistive Technology and Braille for people with visual impairments.

You do not need previous experience as an instructor or advanced knowledge of Assistive Technology. We are looking for people with an interest in technology, training, and accessibility, whom we will prepare to develop this profession.

We are selecting 14 candidates to participate in our specialized course in Assistive Technology Techniques and Braille for people with visual impairments. Upon successful completion, this training will allow you to apply for the position of Assistive Technology and Braille Instructor, whose main task will be to plan and develop Communication and Information Access Service Programs within the framework of the Social Services Model for ONCE affiliates.

Assistive Technology is the set of techniques, knowledge, and resources aimed at providing people with blindness or severe visual impairment with the appropriate means for the correct use of technology.

To participate in the process, it is necessary to have a completed university degree related to one of the following fields:

- Computer Engineering.

- Electronic Engineering.

- Telecommunications Engineering.

- Industrial Engineering.

- Industrial Design Engineering.

- Mathematical Engineering.

- Pedagogy.

- Psychology.

- Psychopedagogy.

- Teaching degree or Teacher.

- Socio-educational care for people with deafblindness or other disabilities.

- Equivalent degrees corresponding to previous curricula.

In the case of foreign university degrees, it will be necessary for them to be officially recognized in Spain.

- To hold a valid B driving license.

- To have your own vehicle at the start of the practical phase.

- To have national geographic mobility and availability to change residence to the destination workplace.

Education & certifications

The total duration of the course will be 5 months and will be developed in two distinct phases.

A first theoretical phase will last 3 months and will be conducted full-time at our Assistive Technology and Innovation Center in Madrid, with all the material and human resources necessary to guarantee the correct execution of the training.

And a second practical phase, to be carried out at one of the ONCE centers nationwide, with a qualified professional.

During the program, you will receive training in:

- Assistive Technology and the accessible use of technological tools and resources.

- Braille as a literacy code.

- Techniques aimed at improving the personal autonomy of people with severe visual impairment in relation to accessible technology and assistive technology.

- Detection of accessibility needs and knowledge of adaptations for people with severe visual impairment and blindness.

- Technological products and materials that favor the autonomous performance of daily life activities.

- Specific methods for attending to minors, the elderly, and people with associated disabilities, such as deafblindness or other disabilities.

- Strategies to provide visual impairment training to professionals in different fields.
