Roles & Responsibilities

REQUESTED PROFILE

This professional, under the supervision of the Department Manager and/or the Curator of Terrestrial Mammals, is responsible for the control, management, and handling of both the zoological collection in the Terrestrial Mammals area and the staff associated with that area. They schedule and organize the human and material resources available to them. They take into account the tasks to be carried out in order to proceed with the organization while applying animal welfare criteria, occupational risk prevention, food safety, and company regulations.

They will be responsible for the following duties:

• Control and care of animals associated with the Terrestrial Mammals area, ensuring their health and well-being.
• Coordination of feeding and cleaning of the animals and their facilities. If necessary, they will carry out these tasks directly.
• Check the health status of the animals and the proper functioning/condition of the facilities, reporting any deficiencies and/or alterations observed to their immediate supervisor.
• Coordinate and carry out animal handling, both routine and special.
• Support the veterinary team in medical procedures.
• Operation of machinery (dumper, forklift, etc.).
• Ensure the safety of animal enclosures, as well as the procedures used for handling these animals, especially when dealing with dangerous animals.
• Coordinate and carry out training and enrichment activities with the animals.
• Ensure strict compliance with work protocols by the staff under their supervision.
• Direct and coordinate the staff under their supervision, achieving optimal performance from keepers and trainees.
• Administrative management of their area (work schedules, incidents, etc.).
• On-the-job training for the staff under their supervision.
• Participation and/or support in educational activities (talks, press, etc.).
• Collaborate with the different Zoo departments to achieve the company's common goals.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience working with animals and supervising staff.
• Leadership skills.
• Ability to train and work as a team, within the organizational structure of their area.
• Knowledge of the systems required for animal handling and training, as well as their welfare and care.
• Responsible and capable of making decisions.
• Practical skills and adaptability.
• Work capacity and flexibility.
• Training related to animals or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of the English language.
• Basic computer skills (Office).
• Valid B driver's license.

Roles & Responsibilities

PERFIL SOLICITADO

Este profesional se encarga, bajo la supervisión del Encargado/a de Departamento y/o del Conservador/a de Mamíferos Terrestres, del control, la gestión y manejo, tanto de la colección zoológica del área de Mamíferos Terrestres, como del personal asociado a dicha área. Programa y organiza los recursos humanos y materiales de los que disponga. Tiene en cuenta los trabajos que hay que realizar para proceder con la organización mientras aplica los criterios de bienestar animal, de prevención de riesgos laborales, seguridad alimentaria y normativa de empresa.

Se responsabilizará de las siguientes funciones:

• Control y cuidado de animales asociados al área de Mamíferos Terrestres, asegurando su salud y bienestar.
• Coordinación de la alimentación y limpieza de los animales y de sus instalaciones. Si fuera necesario realizará estas tareas directamente.
• Comprobar el estado de salud de los animales y el buen funcionamiento/estado de las instalaciones, notificando las deficiencias y/o alteraciones apreciadas a su superior inmediato.
• Coordinar y realizar manejos con los animales, tanto rutinarios como especiales.
• Apoyo al equipo veterinario en manejos médicos.
• Manejo de maquinaria (dumper, carretilla elevadora…).
• Velar por la seguridad de los recintos de los animales, así como de los procedimientos empleados para el manejo de esos animales, especialmente cuando se trate de animales peligrosos.
• Coordinar y realizar entrenamientos y enriquecimientos con los animales.
• Asegurarse del estricto cumplimiento de los protocolos de trabajo del personal a su cargo.
• Dirigir y coordinar al personal a su cargo, consiguiendo una óptima adecuación de los cuidadores y el personal en formación.
• Gestión administrativa de su área (cuadrantes horarios, incidencias, etc.).
• Formación en el puesto del personal a su cargo.
• Participación y/o soporte en actividades divulgativas (charlas, prensa, etc.).
• Colaborar con los diferentes departamentos del Zoo para lograr los objetivos comunes de la empresa.

Se requiere

• Experiencia mínima de 5 años trabajando con animales y personal a cargo.
• Capacidad de liderazgo.
• Capacidad de formar y trabajar en equipo, dentro de la estructura organizativa de su área.
• Conocimiento de los sistemas necesarios para el manejo y entrenamiento de animales, su bienestar y cuidado.
• Responsable y con capacidad para tomar decisiones.
• Habilidades en situaciones prácticas y capacidad de adaptación.
• Capacidad de trabajo y flexibilidad.
• Formación relacionada con animales a experiencia equiparable.
• Conocimiento del idioma inglés.
• Conocimientos de informática a nivel usuario (office).
• Carnet de conducir B.
