Mission

Supply Chain Engineer at PLD Space, in the Subcontracting and Product Quality area. The role begins with supporting Engineering in component design or project requirements definition, and ends with the correct validation and receipt of those parts into the warehouse (including supplier negotiation, purchasing, manufacturing, project follow-up, Product Quality and Quality Control).

Responsibilities

  • Collaboration with the Engineering and Process departments to evolve designs and improve quality and manufacturability, with the Quality department in the verification and validation of components
  • Negotiation with suppliers and management of the supplier portfolio
  • Technical iteration with manufacturers of components designed by PLD Space (review of drawings, manufacturing tolerances...).
  • Supplier selection for metallic components (machined parts of small and medium size, laser cutting, welded structures...) and carbon fiber (monolithic structures, filament winding, hand lay-up, RTM...), based on quality, lead time, and price. Negotiation and management of risks.
  • Effectively communicating and escalating any risk to delivery dates and the production schedule within the company.
  • Placing and managing purchase orders, tracking them through to receipt

Required Requirements

  • Higher Education (Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Technical Engineering / Industrial Engineering or similar).
  • Fluency in English and Spanish (spoken and written).
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and production technologies for components: machining, laser cutting, carbon fiber component manufacturing, metrology, associated documentation, etc.
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools. Experience with databases, exports, and creating management dashboards.
  • Demonstrated experience in procurement, purchasing, or coordination of the supply chain.
  • Verifiable experience in Manufacturing, Mechanical Design, Product Assurance, QC, or related fields.
