We are looking to bring on board an Operation Markets Technician - System Security and Supply Guarantee Area to join the Operation Markets Department team at Red Eléctrica.

What you'll do

  1. Monitor current regulations, both at national and European level, affecting the Spanish production market, the Iberian Market, and the European Internal Energy Market.
    • In particular, collaborate in the design, implementation, and monitoring, from both a technical and regulatory standpoint, of developments arising from the upcoming implementation of a new European network code, NC Demand Response.
  2. Supervise the operation of system adjustment services (technical constraints and voltage control), verifying their alignment with current regulations.
  3. Participate in national and international electricity market working groups, as well as in ad hoc seminars, defending the technical position of the System Operator.
  4. Prepare and coordinate implementation plans for new developments affecting system operation scheduling processes on the Peninsula and settlement processes between TSOs. In particular:
    • Participation in the development and implementation of new services: capacity mechanism, voltage control market, or others that may be established, in identifying and implementing improvements to the congestion resolution process.
    • Analysis of the operation of zonal voltage control markets and development of possible improvements.
    • Identification and execution of actions in the context of new coordination needs with the distribution system operator.
  5. Monitor and analyze the results of adjustment services (technical constraints and voltage control), identifying deviations (anomalies and incidents) and opportunities for improvement.
  6. Design and use data analysis tools and methods for supervising and monitoring market participants, in application of current European regulations.
  7. Ensure the traceability, quality, and consistency of analyses and information used in market supervision, facilitating their review, internal and external communication, and auditing.
  8. Define functional requirements and coordinate the evolution of the IT systems supporting the peninsular scheduling process, ensuring their suitability for processes and current operational and regulatory requirements.
  9. Prepare and submit technical and market results information to regulatory bodies and competent authorities, ensuring quality, transparency, and neutrality.
  10. Handle queries and complaints from market participants regarding system adjustment service markets and the management of international exchanges.

Requirements

  • Degree in Industrial Engineering (bachelor's and master's), preferably with an electrical specialty. Equivalent or similar degrees and specialties will be considered.
  • Advanced level of English (B2).
  • Experience (1-2 years) and knowledge in activities related to electricity system operation and the production market will be valued.
  • Knowledge of MicroStrategy, XML, SQL, and PowerBI tools will be valued.
  • Ease of teamwork and effective collaboration with different stakeholders.
  • Availability for occasional travel.
