Requirements

  • University degree in Mathematics or a related quantitative discipline (Engineering, Physics, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, or similar).

Nice to have

  • Experience in one of the IB programs (MYP and/or Diploma Programme) in the area of Mathematics will be valued.

  • Schedule: Monday to Thursday 9:30 to 17:10, Friday 9:00 to 17:00.

The role

At SEK International School Catalunya, we are looking to hire a mathematics teacher to teach secondary classes for immediate start.

Guide students in mastering mathematical concepts, fostering analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.

What you'll do

  • Attend department meetings and participate in collaborative planning sessions.

  • Develop and implement teaching programs for subjects, modules, and other areas of the department.

  • Participate in the standardization of assessment tasks.

  • Contribute to curriculum research and improvement.

  • Stay up to date on the IB program guides being taught.

Pedagogical competencies

  • Plan effective lessons and learning sequences.

  • Adapt teaching to the individual needs of students.

  • Use a variety of teaching methodologies and educational resources.

  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.

Interpersonal competencies

  • Motivate students and maintain their interest in learning.

  • Create an inclusive and collaborative learning environment.

  • Communicate clearly and effectively with students and colleagues.

  • Establish relationships of trust with students and colleagues.

  • Work in a team, showing a willingness to collaborate, share information, knowledge, and experiences, and contribute to the achievement of common goals.

Digital and Artificial Intelligence skills

  • Required Artificial Intelligence proficiency level: intermediate.

  • Specific AI tools required: Chat GPT, Copilot GeoGebra AI, Desmos, Microsoft Math solver.

  • Digital tools and platforms for the position: Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Use of mathematical software, e.g.: MATLAB, Mathematica, Maple, GeoGebra, etc. Programming and application development, e.g.: Python, R, Java, C++, etc. Data processing and analysis.
