What we're looking for
- Previous industry experience as a 3D lighting artist in animation.
- Solid knowledge of 3D lighting software, such as Autodesk Maya, Blender, V-Ray, Houdini or other similar programs.
- Strong artistic skills, including a good eye for color, composition, and atmosphere.
- Ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively with other members of the production team.
- Knowledge of lighting and shading techniques used in animation.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick adjustments as needed.
- Attention to detail and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
The role
The 3D Lighting Artist is responsible for creating the appropriate lighting and atmospheres for scenes in an animation project. They will work closely with the art director, animation director, lighting supervisor and other production team members to ensure that scenes have the desired look and mood.
What you'll do
- Collaborate with the art director and animation director to understand the creative vision of scenes and ensure that the lighting supports that vision.
- Communicate efficiently to the lighting supervisor and production team to work based on the established quota and priorities of the production.
- Create lighting systems that suit the specific needs of each scene, including light intensity, color, and direction.
- Use 3D lighting software such as Autodesk Maya, Blender, V-Ray, Houdini or similar software to create realistic lighting and visual effects.
- Ensure that shadows, reflections, and lighting effects are consistent with the scale and atmosphere of the scene.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as 3D modeling and visual effects, to ensure the proper integration of lighting into scenes.
- Optimize lighting to meet technical and performance requirements of the project.
- Conduct testing and adjustments to achieve the best possible visual quality in scenes.
- Stay up-to-date with trends and advancements in 3D lighting technology and related software.
