Grid Connection Engineer - EMT Studies

In its Energy business line, Acciona seeks to incorporate an EMT studies grid connection Engineer to provide support to the grid code team in regulatory compliance work.

This position is oriented towards international renewable projects, including photovoltaic plants, wind farms, and energy storage systems, with the objective of performing and analyzing Electromagnetic Transient (EMT) studies. The engineer will contribute to ensuring compliance with grid codes by analyzing plant response to different scenarios, such as voltage and frequency disturbances, changes in Power Plant Controller (PPC) setpoints, and other operational events.

• Guarantee the correct application of the required studies in accordance with the corresponding grid code requirements.
• Model components and develop complete generation plant models in PSCAD, EMTP, ATP, or similar tools, including electrical and control components.
• Simulate different disturbances and transients at the connection point to evaluate the plant response.
• Analyze plant behavior, identify the origin of possible deviations, and develop technical solutions.
• Prepare technical reports with different objectives: test procedures, analysis of results, guides, and recommendations.
• Perform model comparisons and validations to verify compliance with grid codes, for example, PSCAD versus PSS®E, or models versus real field data.
• Develop and use automation processes for modeling, testing, and report generation using Python.
• Collaborate with suppliers to define system technical specifications in line with grid code requirements.
• Maintain effective communication in both internal and external environments.
• Provide support to Acciona teams in other countries.
