The role

At AFANIAS, we have spent more than 60 years accompanying people with intellectual disabilities and their families so that they can develop their life projects with autonomy, dignity, and real opportunities for participation in the community. Since 1964, we have worked to build a more inclusive society, where every person can decide about their present and their future.

Currently, we are looking to incorporate a Social Educator for our Independent Living Service, a resource oriented towards accompanying women with intellectual disabilities in processes of personal recovery, strengthening their autonomy, and building a life free from violence.
If you believe in the power of personalized supports, in the capacity of people to take charge of their lives, and in the value of person-centered intervention, we want to meet you.

What will your mission be?

To accompany the participating women in their process of recovery and personal development, promoting their autonomy, well-being, and active participation in the community, always from the AFANIAS support model and under criteria of quality, respect, and person-centered care.

What will you do in your day-to-day?

  • Design personalized supports, performing the assessment of capacities, needs, and interests of each woman and developing individualized plans that drive her life project.
  • Promote independent living, favoring the development of personal, social, and community skills that strengthen her autonomy and decision-making.
  • Accompany recovery and empowerment processes, enhancing self-esteem, confidence, positive relationships, and participation in safe and inclusive environments.
  • Create spaces for learning and well-being, designing and facilitating group activities, workshops, and leisure proposals that contribute to personal growth and coexistence.
  • Work in coordination with a multidisciplinary team, sharing objectives and strategies with professionals from different fields to offer comprehensive care.
  • Weave support networks, maintaining active coordination with specialized resources and services involved in the participants' recovery process.
  • Provide accompaniment when necessary to resources of the Comprehensive Care Network for Gender Violence of the Community of Madrid, guaranteeing close and safe care.

What do we offer?

The opportunity to be part of a leading organization in intellectual disability, committed to rights, inclusion, and the construction of meaningful life projects. A work environment where every intervention has a real impact on people's lives and where human accompaniment makes the difference.
