Senior Technician in Polymers and Composites, Formulation and Extrusion Processes

• A PhD in the field of thermoplastic polymers, extrusion of composite materials, or formulation of composites will be especially valued.
• Knowledge of thermoplastic processing: injection molding, compression molding, additive manufacturing, etc.
• Practical experience in the manufacture of thermoplastic tapes.
• Knowledge of functional and smart materials.
• Knowledge of European networks and entities specialized in materials and manufacturing processes.

• Degree in Chemistry and/or Physics.
• Degree in Materials Engineering or any other qualification that includes training in polymers or composite materials.

As part of the Advanced Composites Technologies Unit, your tasks will be:

• Management of R&D projects in the field of formulation and extrusion of polymers and composites: definition of the experimental plan, monitoring of extrusion tests, characterization and testing analysis, control of personnel and resources, drafting of technical reports, definition of mitigation plans, etc.
• Continuous updating on the latest advances related to new applications of thermoplastic polymers and composites (high-performance, recycled, and bio-based materials)
• Attendance at congresses and outreach events.
• Collaboration in the drafting of national and European proposals: definition of technical objectives, work plan, and searching for partners.

• Expert in thermoplastic polymers and composites, with extensive knowledge of their properties, manufacturing processes, and characterization (mechanical, thermal, rheological, and physicochemical testing).
• Expert in the formulation of thermoplastic composites in the molten state and in the extrusion of polymers and composites.
• Technical management of experimental work packages in R&D projects (national and, mainly, European programs).
• Experience in mentoring students or JR researchers, as well as supervision and control of resources.
• Experience in R&D project development.
• Advanced level of English.
• MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Driving license and own vehicle.
