Trainee Fire Engineer

We are looking for a proactive and dynamic person with a focus and interest to develop their career in fire safety. We also value:

• Currently pursuing or recently graduated a degree in Engineering, Architecture or a related discipline.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an eagerness to learn and apply new concepts.

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to contribute effectively in a collaborative environment.

• Speak English and Spanish fluently (C1). A third language would be a plus.Academic exposure to fire safety engineering, fire dynamics, heat transfer or structural behavior in fire.

• Familiarity with fire modelling tools, such as FDS and/or structural modelling tools, such as LS-DYNA, including through academic coursework or projects.

Working alongside experienced fire engineers, you will apply your academic knowledge to real-world challenges, develop your technical skills and gain an understanding of fire safety principles, codes and standards.

• Support the development of fire safety strategies, working with multidisciplinary teams within Arup and external project teams.

• Assist with performance-based fire engineering studies, including calculations and modelling related to fire and smoke behavior, evacuation and structural response to fire.

• Support fire safety reviews and inspections of new and existing buildings and infrastructure, including reviewing drawings and contributing to technical reports.

• Assist with the preparation of drawings, presentations and other technical documentation, with opportunities to gain exposure to fire protection systems design.
