About the role

We are looking for a senior Data & AI Architect with a practical mindset and results orientation: someone who not only designs flawless architectures on GCP, but also takes them into production, manages client relationships, and leads the technical team through to successful delivery. If you are motivated to take end-to-end ownership—from architectural definition to governance and project success in production—and you also want to contribute to pre-sales and continuous improvement of the area, this role is for you.

You will work as a technical architect and architectural reference on high-impact projects, supporting delivery, managing client expectations, and guiding the team toward operational excellence.

Hybrid role in Madrid with occasional travel.

What you'll do

  • You will define and validate the solution architecture: you will choose patterns, technologies, and topologies on GCP (BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Dataproc, Vertex AI, Dataplex). You will generate clear and applicable architectural references for the project.
  • You will technically lead the architecture and delivery team: you will oversee designs, review critical implementations, and drive standards and technical mentoring for data engineers and ML engineers.
  • You will be the main technical point of contact for the client: you will facilitate workshops, align expectations, translate business requirements into technical decisions, and ensure deliverables provide measurable value.
  • You will manage project and governance aspects: you will collaborate with PMs on planning, risks, and mitigations; you will define SLAs, access policies, control, and compliance (IAM, Workload Identity, VPC Service Controls, KMS).
  • You will drive the deployment of models and pipelines into production: you will support deployments on Vertex AI/alternatives, and establish monitoring, testing, and alerting to ensure stable operations.
  • You will contribute to pre-sales and proposals: you will prepare technical estimates, architectures for RFPs/RFIs, and participate in demos and PoCs with clients.
  • You will promote continuous improvement and technological evolution: you will propose cost/performance optimizations (FinOps on BigQuery/Dataflow) and introduce reusable patterns and best practices in the area.

What we're looking for

  • 8–10 years (minimum) of experience in Data, Analytics, or AI projects, with relevant technical roles.
  • Demonstrable experience with GCP: BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage; familiarity with Dataproc/BigLake/Dataplex and Vertex AI.
  • Advanced Python and advanced SQL; experience with Spark where applicable.
  • Experience in data modeling, partitioning, sharding, optimization, and costs in analytical warehouses (BigQuery).
  • Experience taking solutions into production and ensuring operations and monitoring.
  • Solid knowledge of security and governance on GCP (IAM, Workload Identity, VPC SC, KMS/CMEK).
  • Proven ability in client-facing communication and participation in technical pre-sales.
  • Advanced Spanish and English.
  • University degree (Bachelor's/Master's) or equivalent proven experience.

Nice to have

  • Google Cloud certifications (Professional Data Engineer, Cloud Architect, ML Engineer).
  • Experience with Generative AI / LLMs / RAG and semantic search architectures (vector databases).
  • Experience with multi-cloud or migrations to GCP.
  • Knowledge of Data Mesh, Data Catalogs, and advanced governance practices.
  • Experience in cost optimization (FinOps) applied to BigQuery/Dataflow.

What you'll get

  • Strategic role with high visibility within the Data & AI area.
  • Challenging projects with real impact and top-tier clients.
  • Training budget and support for certifications.
  • Advanced technical environment and a community of practice.
  • Hybrid model (office in Madrid + flexibility) and occasional travel.
  • Competitive compensation package commensurate with experience.

Soft Skills

  • Proven technical leadership: setting standards, making decisions, and elevating the team through active mentoring.
  • Client orientation: anticipating needs, negotiating solutions, and prioritizing business impact.
  • Clear and persuasive communication: presenting technical options and risks with a focus on decision-making.
  • Practical project management: working with PMs to plan deliveries, mitigate risks, and meet objectives.
  • Pragmatic and responsible mindset: choosing sustainable and measurable solutions, always seeking operability.
  • Collaboration and knowledge sharing: fostering team culture and reusable documentation.
