The role

Company Description

Descarbonize is a Brazilian climate-tech startup, connected to the world's largest sustainable energy innovation ecosystem, with operations in Europe through The Emissions Tracing Company SL. We believe that through education, technology, and greater transparency, organizations, events, and people can grow economically while becoming more sustainable.

We help companies measure, understand, and reduce their greenhouse gas emissions across Scopes 1, 2, and 3, giving them a more accurate view of their carbon footprint and making their supply chains more sustainable. Our compensation sources come mainly from renewable energy projects with a strong socio-environmental commitment, bringing social inclusion and improved living conditions to the communities involved.

Position

We're looking for a motivated intern to join our team and support our clients' GHG inventories and decarbonization journeys. This is a hands-on role with a strong focus on calculations and data, ideal for someone who wants to build a career in carbon accounting and corporate sustainability.

Your main responsibilities will include

  • Collecting and organizing client activity data (energy, fuel, travel, purchased goods, logistics, waste, etc.)
  • Cleaning and validating datasets: identifying gaps, inconsistencies, and errors, and standardizing units and formats
  • Calculating Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions in line with the GHG Protocol
  • Researching, comparing, and analyzing emission factors from recognized databases (e.g. DEFRA, IPCC, Ecoinvent, IEA), assessing their suitability for each activity, region, and year
  • Analyzing results, identifying emission hotspots, and supporting reduction recommendations
  • Helping prepare reports, dashboards, and presentations for clients
  • Supporting projects related to SBTi target setting, EcoVadis assessments, and other sustainability frameworks
  • Contributing to the improvement of our internal calculation tools and methodologies
Requirements
  • Currently enrolled in or graduated from an Energy Masters Programme
  • Knowledge of the GHG Protocol, SBTi, EcoVadis, or similar frameworks, or a genuine willingness to learn them quickly
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Professional working proficiency in English.
  • Proactive, organized, and able to work independently as well as in a team
Other information
