The role
Integrated into the Architecture department, you will be responsible for taking design needs and decisions to a complete, robust, and executable construction solution, anticipating risks and resolving technical needs before they become problems during construction.
Your work must find the balance between:
design + functionality + constructability + cost + durability + timeframe.
You will have autonomy and responsibility over the technical solutions you develop, working in coordination with the different teams involved in each project.
What you'll do
- Develop projects from initial phases to the level of construction detail necessary for their correct execution.
- Define architectural and MEP (installations) construction solutions.
- Develop details for junctions, connections, coatings, partitions, facades, waterproofing, insulation, and other construction elements.
- Analyze the functional needs of the project and convert them into technical solutions.
- Review the constructability of the proposed solutions.
- Identify incompatibilities, risks, and possible pathologies before reaching the construction site.
- Develop robust, viable, and executable construction solutions, minimizing risks and avoiding pathologies during the execution and useful life of the project.
- Propose and evaluate alternatives when a solution is not technically, economically, or constructively adequate.
- Evaluate materials, construction systems, and assembly processes.
- Analyze solutions from the perspective of cost, availability, manufacturing, assembly, durability, and maintenance.
- Work with suppliers and manufacturers to develop and validate specific solutions.
- Provide practical knowledge of workshops, tools, machinery, and manufacturing processes.
- Understand how a drawn solution is transformed into a manufactured piece and subsequently into an element executed on-site.
- Detect opportunities for simplification, industrialization, or improvement of construction processes.
- Coordinate architectural solutions with the project's installations.
- Have the capacity to understand the architectural, structural, and constructive implications of the installations.
- Participate in the definition and technical coordination of special elements such as stairs, elevators, and escalators.
- Know the main structural constraints associated with architectural solutions.
- Participate in the definition and review of solutions related to applicable certifications and technical requirements.
- Know and apply the technical and building regulations applicable to retail projects.
- Know the Technical Building Code (CTE) and its main basic documents.
- Know the regulations for fire protection, evacuation, accessibility, and safety of use.
- Know the requirements related to structures, fire resistance, thermal and acoustic insulation.
- Interpret regulations and translate their requirements into project solutions and construction details.
- Identify the specific regulatory requirements of each project, country, and market.
- Experience working with international regulations and local requirements will be valued.
- Work transversally with Architecture, Engineering, Construction, Procurement, Real Estate, and other company departments.
- Coordinate with suppliers, manufacturers, external collaborators, and site teams.
- Communicate, argue, and defend technical solutions.
- Listen to the needs of different stakeholders and seek solutions that allow the project to move forward.
- Participate in the resolution of incidents and technical needs during the development and execution of projects.
- Anticipate problems and act before they become site incidents.
How you'll work
The position requires availability to travel approximately 2 times per month, mainly to visit projects, suppliers, factories, or construction sites and participate directly in their technical development.
Travel is a part of the job that allows you to see firsthand how the solutions that will subsequently form part of our stores are manufactured and built.
Experience we seek
We are looking for a person with senior experience and real, applied knowledge of construction, not solely in design or project development.
Technical knowledge
- Deep and applied knowledge of construction systems and site processes.
- Knowledge of materials, assembly systems, and manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of structures and the interaction between structure and architecture.
- Knowledge of installations.
- Knowledge of facades, waterproofing, thermal and acoustic insulation, and resolution of singular points.
- Knowledge of stairs, elevators, and escalators.
- Knowledge of manufacturing, assembly, and on-site implementation processes.
- Ability to interpret technical documentation, calculations, shop drawings, and technical data sheets.
- Knowledge of certifications and technical documentation.
What we are looking for in you
Beyond technical knowledge, we are looking for a person who:
- Thinks before the problem appears.
- Has technical criteria and the ability to make decisions.
- Is capable of questioning a solution when it is not appropriate and proposing alternatives.
- Has a global vision of the project and does not limit themselves exclusively to their scope.
- Combines technical criteria with a cost vision.
- Is autonomous in taking a solution from the initial need to the construction detail.
- Knows how to listen, negotiate, and reach agreements with suppliers and internal teams.
- Has the capacity to work in multidisciplinary and multicultural environments.
- Is practical, rigorous, and results-oriented.
- Is curious to understand how and why a solution works.
- Enjoy watching how an idea goes from the drawing board to manufacturing and finally to a built store.
What will you find at Mango?
The opportunity to work on architecture projects that end up becoming real spaces for millions of customers.
You will participate in the technical development of Mango stores across different markets, building typologies, and construction scenarios.
You will encounter existing buildings, unique spaces, structural limitations, complex installations, bespoke solutions, specialized manufacturing, different regulations, international suppliers, and demanding deadlines.
This requires much more than knowledge of blueprints.
It requires judgment, experience, and the ability to make things happen.
You will be able to participate in the entire process:
need → design → technical solution → detail → manufacturing → construction → finished store.
Because in Architecture, a good project does not end when it is drawn.
It ends when it works.
