About the role
The Control Surface Stress Analyst will be responsible for the structural justification of the control surfaces and the flap actuation mechanism of the Electra EL9. This is a senior position, with full responsibility for the flap GFEM and minimal technical supervision.
The position reports directly to the Chief Engineer.
What you'll do
Full responsibility for the Global FEM Model of the flap:
Model creation, maintenance, configuration control, and mesh quality
Application of loads transferred from the wing GFEM
Perform nonlinear FE analyses, including:
Contact
Large displacements
Kinematic behavior of multi-link mechanisms
Extract interface loads and deflections for downstream users
Size and justify:
Flap structures
Hinges, fittings, lugs, and pins
6-bar flap mechanisms under deployment loads, kinematic cases, and failure cases
Complement FEM analyses with classical hand calculations on critical details
Write Formal Static Strength Reports supporting first flight and Part 23 certification
What we're looking for
Extensive senior experience as a Stress Analyst on moving surfaces or aircraft mechanisms
Demonstrated responsibility in nonlinear FEM with contact (FEMAP / NX Nastran)
Strong command of classical structural analysis (Bruhn, Niu, ESDU) applied to metallic parts
Experience in extracting interface loads and structural deflections
Knowledge of EASA / FAA Part 23 or Part 25 certification frameworks
Proven ability to work independently as a technical authority and deliver clear, auditable reports
Deliverables
Fully documented flap GFEM with version control
Interface load and deflection datasets for downstream integration
Static Strength Reports for incremental reviews, CDR, and First Flight Readiness
