What we're looking for
•3–5 years of experience as a backend developer, with PHP and Python in real projects.
•Good command of modern PHP (7.4/8.x) and at least one framework (Laravel, Symfony or similar).
•Python applied to backend, scripts, automation or data (FastAPI, Django, Flask or similar).
•Design and consumption of REST APIs, and solid experience with MySQL and query optimization.
•Git and working with pull / merge requests and code review.
•Automated tests and a quality mindset. You have worked with clean or well-structured architectures, and you are autonomous and technically responsible.
• A desire to work with AI as part of your day-to-day and a mindset of learning
continuously.
• Clear communication in Spanish; technical English sufficient to read documentation.

• Previous experience with AI-assisted development tools or with prompts and
agents.
• Experience with spec-driven development,
for example with OpenSpec.
• Managing AI through skills, custom instructions and ADRs (Architecture
Decision Records) to guide and document code decisions.
• Some frontend (JavaScript / TypeScript, Vue or React) to understand the product from
end to end.
• Docker, CI/CD and basic cloud knowledge (AWS, Azure or GCP).
• Queues and messaging (RabbitMQ, Redis) and performance optimization.
• Experience integrating external services and storage systems, or in
software with HR data.

The role
We are looking for a backend developer with 3–5 years of experience in PHP and Python who wants to continue growing professionally in a demanding environment. You will join a development team in full evolution: we are moving from writing every line to designing, supervising, and validating software alongside AI tools, working as a Software Engineer / Architect.
You will work at Nivimu, within Septeo, one of Europe's leading vertical software publishers. Here, artificial intelligence is at the center of how we build product, with a clear ambition: make intelligent software for Europe. And you will not be pigeonholed by technology: your level depends on the skills you master and those you continue to add.
What you'll do
•Design and develop new functionalities and backend APIs in PHP and Python, including integration with external services, storage systems, and AI models (LLMs), with maintainable, tested, and production-ready code.
•Work with AI assistants to generate, refactor, and document code, and critically review what they produce before approving it.
•Define clear specifications for each task and validate the result at every phase (specification, code, and QA) before moving to review.
•Participate in code reviews and the team's technical decisions, focusing on clean architecture, performance, scalability, and quality.
•Collaborate with Product and the rest of the team to prioritize and resolve tasks according to their impact.
•Detect the root cause of errors, correct them, and share what has been learned.

1. First months: you integrate into the team's workflow, master the cycle of
specification, code and QA, and deliver tasks autonomously.
2. Expanding skills: you deepen your knowledge of the language you know least, PHP or Python, and
review others' work.
3. With more responsibility: you solve complex tasks with little supervision,
take part in architecture decisions and are a quality reference for the team.
You'll have regular check-ins with your manager, skill goals defined from
day one and training in AI-assisted development.
