Due to strong growth in our Energy | WSP area, we want to add to our Transmission team in Madrid, Valladolid, Santander, or Valencia a High Voltage Substation Engineer – Secondary Systems Specialist

What will you do with us?

Your responsibilities will include acting as a senior reference in secondary systems for High Voltage Substations, leading the architecture and design of Protection and Control systems, Telecontrol/SCADA, and Communications in highly complex projects.

You will be responsible for defining and reviewing protection philosophies, logic, interlocking, signal lists, and IEC 61850 configurations, providing expert criteria in the integration of IEDs, RTUs, gateways, networks, and telecommunications equipment. You will coordinate manufacturers and internal teams, establishing quality standards and ensuring technical consistency across disciplines. Additionally, you will lead FAT/SAT, protection and SCADA validations, commissioning, and resolution of critical incidents. You will also drive internal standardization, technical review of deliverables, and knowledge transfer, contributing to the strengthening and technical excellence of the area.

What are we looking for in you?

For this position, we are looking for a professional with a minimum degree in Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or equivalent, with a B2 English level and more than 15 years of experience in High Voltage Substations and Secondary Systems (132–400 kV), with technical recognition in this field.

Deep expertise in protection systems, control, interlocking, metering, telecontrol, communications, and RTU/SCADA platforms is essential, as well as demonstrated experience working with IEC 61850 —including SCL, GOOSE, and MMS— and/or SCADA protocols such as IEC 60870-5-101/104 or DNP3. Technical leadership in FAT and SAT, protection testing, and the ability to resolve complex incidents are also required.

As desirable requirements, we will value experience in OT cybersecurity applied to substations, including hardening tasks, network segmentation, and access management in accordance with client requirements. Knowledge of substation telecommunications, such as OPGW, networks, redundancies, and synchronization, will be a plus, as will participation in technical proposals, standardization activities using templates or checklists, and training or mentoring initiatives.

¿Qué harás con nosotros?

Tus responsabilidades incluirán actuar como referente senior en sistemas secundarios de Subestaciones AT, liderando la arquitectura y el diseño de los sistemas de Protecciones y Control, Telecontrol/SCADA y Comunicaciones en proyectos de alta complejidad.

Serás responsable de definir y revisar filosofías de protección, lógicas, enclavamientos, listas de señales y configuraciones IEC 61850, aportando criterio experto en la integración de IEDs, RTUs, gateways, redes y equipos de telecomunicaciones. Coordinarás a fabricantes y equipos internos, estableciendo estándares de calidad y asegurando la coherencia técnica entre disciplinas. Además, liderarás FAT/SAT, validaciones de protecciones y SCADA, la puesta en servicio y la resolución de incidencias críticas. También impulsarás la estandarización interna, la revisión técnica de entregables y la transferencia de conocimiento, contribuyendo al fortalecimiento y la excelencia técnica del área.

¿Qué buscamos en ti?

Para esta posición buscamos un/a profesional con titulación mínima en Ingeniería Industrial, Eléctrica, Telecomunicaciones o equivalente, que cuente con un nivel de inglés B2 y una experiencia superior a 15 años en Subestaciones y Sistemas Secundarios de Alta Tensión (132–400 kV), con reconocimiento técnico en este ámbito.

Es imprescindible un dominio profundo de sistemas de protecciones, control, enclavamientos, medida, telecontrol, comunicaciones y plataformas RTU/SCADA, así como experiencia demostrada trabajando con IEC 61850 —incluyendo SCL, GOOSE y MMS— y/o con protocolos SCADA como IEC 60870‑5‑101/104 o DNP3. También se requiere liderazgo técnico en FAT y SAT, pruebas de protecciones y capacidad para la resolución de incidencias complejas.

Como requisitos deseables, valoraremos experiencia en ciberseguridad OT aplicada a subestaciones, incluyendo tareas de hardening, segmentación de redes y gestión de accesos conforme a requisitos de cliente. Será un plus contar con conocimientos de telecomunicaciones de subestación, como OPGW, redes, redundancias y sincronismos, así como haber participado en propuestas técnicas, actividades de estandarización mediante plantillas o checklists y acciones de formación o mentoring.
