Senior Banking Architect

We are looking for a Senior Banking Architect to lead the analysis, design, and delivery of end-to-end architectures in banking consulting and implementation programs. You will be the main technical reference for clients and delivery teams, combining deep banking knowledge with mastery of modern technologies to drive digital transformations in financial institutions.

Tasks to be performed:

• Lead the analysis and design of target-state architectures for core banking, digital channels, payments, cards, and CRM, ensuring functional and technical consistency.

• Define and guide the evolution from monolithic platforms toward modular, cloud-native, and API-first architectures (microservices, event-driven, DDD), including decoupling criteria and migration strategy.

• Produce high-level architecture artifacts (HLD), architecture diagrams, flows, and integrations to clearly communicate solutions to technical teams and executive stakeholders.

• Participate in pre-sales activities (proposals, RFPs, solutioning, estimations) and recommend core banking packages and ecosystem solutions (e.g., Temenos, Mambu, Finacle, Oracle FLEXCUBE, nCino, Salesforce FSC).

Responsibilities

• Act as the main architecture reference and advise clients on defining technology and solution roadmaps, aligning business objectives, regulation, and technical feasibility.

• Design integration architectures for open banking and API ecosystems, considering security patterns, versioning, API governance, and observability.

• Define integration and messaging strategies (REST/SOAP, Kafka, MQ, Apache Camel, or equivalents), ensuring resilience, traceability, and performance.

• Ensure DevSecOps best practices and continuous delivery: CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, containerization (Docker), and orchestration (Kubernetes) in regulated environments.

• Collaborate with data teams to align data architecture and analytical/BI capabilities (modeling, data platforms, reporting) where applicable to banking use cases.

• Consider relevant regulatory frameworks (e.g., PSD2, Open Banking, DORA, Basel III, AML/KYC) in solution design, including security, continuity, audit, and compliance requirements.

• Mentor junior architects and promote technical standards and quality within the team.

• Drive Agile ways of working and scaling frameworks (SAFe/Scrum) in complex, multi-country environments.

Requirements

• 5–10+ years of experience in banking consulting and/or implementation projects, performing technical or solution architecture roles.

• Demonstrated experience leading banking transformation programs as a Solution Architect, Technical Architect, or Lead Architect.

• Solid knowledge of banking domains (core banking, payments SEPA/SWIFT/ISO 20022, digital onboarding, risk/compliance/reporting).

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and modern architectures (microservices, event-driven, API-first, Domain-Driven Design).

• Fluent English (oral and written). Other languages are valued.

• Excellent communication skills to present complex topics to executive audiences.

• Availability to travel to client sites as required.

• Knowledge of banking platforms or core packages (experience with Temenos, Oracle Banking/FLEXCUBE, Mambu, Intellect Design, SAP, among others, is valued).

The role is based in Madrid, with a hybrid work model, working some days from home and others in the office, where you will be able to create interesting synergies with the rest of your team. It is essential to reside in Spain and have a work permit in Spain.

Buscamos un Senior Banking Architect para liderar análisis, diseño y entrega de arquitecturas end-to-end en programas de consultoría e implementación bancaria. Serás el referente técnico principal para clientes y equipos de delivery, combinando conocimiento profundo de banca con dominio de tecnologías modernas para impulsar transformaciones digitales en entidades financieras.

Funciones a realizar:

• Liderar el análisis y diseño de arquitecturas objetivo (target-state) para core banking, canales digitales, pagos, tarjetas y CRM, asegurando consistencia funcional y técnica.

• Definir y guiar la evolución desde plataformas monolíticas hacia arquitecturas modulares, cloud-native y API-first (microservicios, event-driven, DDD), incluyendo criterios de desacoplamiento y estrategia de migración.

• Elaborar artefactos de arquitectura de alto nivel (HLD), diagramas de arquitectura, flujos e integración para comunicar soluciones de forma clara a equipos técnicos y stakeholders ejecutivos.

• Participar en actividades de preventa (propuestas, RFPs, solutioning, estimaciones) y recomendación de paquetes core banking y soluciones del ecosistema (por ejemplo Temenos, Mambu, Finacle, Oracle FLEXCUBE, nCino, Salesforce FSC).

Responsabilidades

• Actuar como principal referencia de arquitectura y asesorar al cliente en la definición de roadmaps tecnológicos y de solución, alineando objetivos de negocio, regulación y viabilidad técnica.

• Diseñar arquitecturas de integración para open banking y ecosistemas API, contemplando patrones de seguridad, versionado, gobernanza de APIs y observabilidad.

• Definir estrategias de integración y mensajería (REST/SOAP, Kafka, MQ, Apache Camel o equivalentes), garantizando resiliencia, trazabilidad y rendimiento.

• Asegurar buenas prácticas de DevSecOps y delivery continuo: CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, contenerización (Docker) y orquestación (Kubernetes) en entornos regulados.

• Colaborar con equipos de datos para alinear data architecture y capacidades analíticas/BI (modelado, plataformas de datos, reporting), cuando aplique a casos de uso bancarios.

• Considerar marcos regulatorios relevantes (por ejemplo PSD2, Open Banking, DORA, Basel III, AML/KYC) en el diseño de la solución, incluyendo requisitos de seguridad, continuidad, auditoría y cumplimiento.

• Mentorización de arquitectos/as junior y promoción de estándares y calidad técnica en el equipo.

• Impulsar formas de trabajo Agile y escaladas (SAFe/Scrum) en entornos complejos y multi-país.

Requisitos

• 5-10 años o más de experiencia en consultoría bancaria y/o proyectos de implementación en banca, desempeñando funciones de arquitectura técnica o de solución.

• Experiencia demostrable liderando programas de transformación bancaria como Solution Architect / Technical Architect / Lead Architect.

• Conocimiento sólido de dominios bancarios (core banking, pagos SEPA/SWIFT/ISO 20022, digital banking, onboarding, riesgo/compliance/reporting).

• Experiencia en cloud (AWS, Azure o GCP) y arquitecturas modernas (microservicios, event-driven, API-first, Domain-Driven Design).

• Inglés fluido (oral y escrito). Otros idiomas se valoran.

• Excelentes habilidades de comunicación para presentar temas complejos a audiencias ejecutivas.

• Disponibilidad para viajar a cliente cuando sea necesario.

• Conocimiento de plataformas bancarias o paquetes core (se valorará experiencia en Temenos, Oracle Banking/FLEXCUBE, Mambu, Intellect Design, SAP, entre otros).
