The role

Address the adaptation difficulties of applicants for international protection, refugees, and stateless persons and promote the development of psychosocial competencies and skills, through the development of individual and/or collective processes of psychological assessment, diagnosis, and follow-up, in close collaboration and coordination with the reference psychological services, in order to guarantee an optimal state of health and preparation for autonomous life for the beneficiaries of the Program. Reporting directly to the Territorial Manager of the Area or Territorial / State Coordination. 

What you'll do

  • Identify the psychological/psychiatric care needs of the target group.
  • Detect, evaluate, and monitor possible vulnerabilities or particular needs of the people attended by the Service.  
  • Refer to psychological/psychiatric care resources for specific situations that require specialized attention in a concrete matter (gender violence, severe mental health disorders, substance use, eating disorders, etc.). 
  • Conduct group sessions where expectations, health promotion, self-esteem, stress management, coping strategies and resilience, trauma, guilt, grief, and clinical psychological care are worked on from an integral perspective, when deemed appropriate. 
  • Prepare psychological reports that are useful for accrediting the situation of the person attended, in order to be included in the relevant itinerary and, where appropriate, that may be used to certify the psychological vulnerability of the person attended before the different administrations. 
  • Provide accompaniment to specialized resources, in cases where this is deemed appropriate. 
  • Carry out actions aimed at the prevention of eventual major psychological damage. 
  • Perform psychological diagnoses (according to DSM-V criteria), with special knowledge of post-traumatic stress disorder. 
  • Perform mediation in conflict situations and emergency intervention in crisis situations.  
  • Bring the Organization's professionals closer, in a simple manner, to the psychological reality of migration and asylum (new publications and studies). 
  • Prepare reports, memoirs, adaptations, improvement proposals for plans, and projects related to the care program and derived administrative management. 
  • Perform registration in the SIRIA database, the Organization's CEARNET database, and any other database dependent on the Program's management.
