The role
IDEA is a multidisciplinary engineering firm, with more than 250 professionals and a strong national and international presence. We carry out cutting-edge projects in more than 26 countries, consolidating ourselves as one of the main benchmarks in the Oil&Gas, Industrial, and Energy sectors.
Much more than an engineering firm, at IDEA we are pioneers in the search and creation of innovative solutions for Industry 4.0. We offer a wide range of services, from Detailed Engineering and EPC projects, through our Electrical Grid distribution areas and Outsourcing services, to our Architecture services or our Digital Twins from the Digital Transformation area.
we are looking to hire a BIM Automation & Scan-to-BIM Specialist who wants to participate in the development of this technology.
We are not just looking for someone who knows how to model in Revit. Nor a pure programmer.
We are looking for a person who understands how buildings are constructed, knows how to work with BIM models, and has an interest in programming, automation, and new technologies.
Someone who wants to move from producing BIM models to participating in the development of tools capable of generating them automatically.
You will be the BIM and Scan-to-BIM technical and functional reference, working directly with the Architecture, software development, and artificial intelligence teams.
Your mission will be to help ensure that the technology we are developing is capable of correctly interpreting the built reality and transforming it into useful, precise, and interoperable BIM models.
You will participate in both the initial tests and prototypes as well as the validation of the system with real buildings and projects.
What you'll do
- Work with point clouds and Scan-to-BIM processes, analyzing how to digitally represent the elements of existing buildings.
- Define construction and BIM criteria to identify and reconstruct walls, pillars, slabs, openings, joinery, and other elements.
- Translate architectural knowledge into automatable rules, collaborating with the software and artificial intelligence teams.
- Establish geometric tolerances, quality criteria, and validation procedures.
- Participate in the preparation of datasets and reference data to train and evaluate AI algorithms.
- Review geometric reconstruction results and propose improvements.
- Validate Revit and IFC models, checking their constructive coherence and interoperability.
- Design and test automations that simplify BIM processes.
- Participate in laboratory tests with point clouds and real buildings.
- Document results and contribute to the technical evolution of the product.
This is not a position focused on managing teams of modelers or on producing BIM models repetitively.
It is about using your BIM experience to solve technical problems and participate in the development of a new way to generate digital building models.
What will we offer you?
- Participation in an exciting project with an international leading company in the chemical industry.
- Professional development and growth opportunities.
- Dynamic and collaborative work environment.
- Competitive salary.
- Contract through IDEA.
- Long-term project
Requirements
We would like you to bring:
- Degree in Architecture, Technical Architecture, Building Engineering, or related engineering.
- Solid professional experience working with BIM and Revit.
- Good knowledge of building elements and construction systems.
- Experience interpreting point clouds of existing buildings.
- Practical knowledge of IFC and BIM interoperability processes.
- Ability to identify geometric errors, establish quality criteria, and validate models.
- Demonstrable experience or knowledge in BIM automation, for example through Dynamo, Python, Revit API, or similar tools.
We especially value if you have worked in renovation, architectural surveys, as-built models, or Scan-to-BIM projects.
And there is something especially important: your technological curiosity.
Our high level of commitment drives us to pursue permanent research to improve efficiency and sustainability, always in compliance with the law and aligned with ethical standards.
At IDEA, we have a strong commitment to equal opportunities, as well as to diversity. To achieve this, we carry out rigorous selection processes that guarantee it.
