Do you fit?
We are looking for a person capable of building a strategic procurement function from scratch, with deep knowledge of sports nutrition ingredients and dietary supplements, and who can navigate effectively between Spanish and German work dynamics, providing flexibility and agility to manage two markets simultaneously.

The role

We are looking for the person who will lead the Procurement function for all European operations (Spain and Germany), based in Spain and reporting to the General Manager. The selected person must feel comfortable collaborating closely and providing functional direction to the German procurement team, while maintaining their residence and professional commitment in Spain.

More than 90 years being a pioneer in sports nutrition. As we expand our business in Europe, we are building an authentic strategic procurement function from scratch for our operations in Spain and Germany, and we are looking for the person to lead it.

Based in Spain and reporting to the General Manager of Spain, you will be part of the local management team while operating with European responsibility. You will collaborate closely with the General Manager, as well as with the R&D, Quality, Finance, and Sales teams in both markets.

Depending on the results obtained, there is a realistic pathway toward even broader responsibility at a European level.

What you'll do

  • Build and lead the strategic procurement function for European operations (Spain and Germany).
  • Manage key suppliers and contract manufacturers, including commercial terms, payment terms, minimum order quantities, and trade credit insurance.
  • Drive cost optimization within the current supplier and manufacturer base in both markets.
  • Lay the foundations for a procurement strategy for the entire supply chain at a European level.
  • Monitor global supply markets and price trends relevant to categories such as whey protein, creatine, vitamins, minerals, and other ingredients used in sports nutrition and dietary supplements.
  • Provide functional guidance to the procurement coordinators and teams in Spain and Germany.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, Quality, Sales, and Finance on decisions related to procurement, formulation, certifications, forecasting, and margins.

How you'll work

Location: Alcorcón, Madrid (Weider Nutrition SL offices)

Reports to: General Manager

Scope: Operations in Spain and Germany

Department: Procurement

First 90 days

  • Review the current supplier and contract manufacturer base, as well as existing processes and contracts in Spain and Germany.
  • Build the foundations for a European-level sourcing strategy: target categories, procurement strategy, and supply chain structure.
  • Implement a structured supplier evaluation framework based on quality, certifications, capacity, reliability, price, and strategic alignment.
  • Improve commercial terms with suppliers and contract manufacturers.
  • Establish transparent, data-driven reporting on procurement costs and savings for both markets.

Requirements

  • University degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Food Science, or related areas. Master's or MBA is valued.
  • Several years of experience in strategic procurement or category management, ideally with leadership responsibility.
  • Experience managing contract manufacturers, beyond traditional goods procurement.
  • Experience in sports nutrition, dietary supplements, food, or similar regulated environments, with solid knowledge of ingredients such as proteins, creatine, vitamins, minerals, and botanical extracts.
  • Demonstrable track record of developing or diversifying supplier networks.
  • Experience negotiating commercial terms, payment terms, MOQs, and trade credit insurance.
  • Analytical and data-oriented profile, with proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel.
  • Fluent English and Spanish. German is highly valued due to close collaboration with Germany.
  • High flexibility and ability to adapt to working between two markets, cultures, and ways of working.
  • Availability to travel regularly to Germany and occasionally to other European countries to visit suppliers and manufacturers.
  • Hands-on mentality: this is about building a function from scratch, not inheriting an existing one.
