What we're looking for

Aptitude Test!

To enjoy the position of Purchasing Manager, it is essential to have:

  • Product judgment. We need you to know fruits and vegetables, their qualities, varieties, seasons, and particularities.
  • Ability to make decisions with agility. In fresh products, there is not always room to leave a decision for tomorrow.
  • Skill to negotiate and build trusting professional relationships with suppliers.
  • Organization and ability to simultaneously handle purchases, stock, the needs of different points, and incidents.
  • Practical mindset, attention to detail, and cost orientation without losing sight of quality and service.

To carry this out, you must bring in your backpack:

  • Professional experience that has allowed you to acquire solid knowledge of fruit and vegetable products.
  • Regular use of IT tools for tracking purchases, orders, and stock.
  • Availability to work on-site in Plasencia.
  • Driver's license and availability to make occasional trips to visit suppliers.

Nice to have

  • Experience performing purchases or procurement in distribution companies, wholesalers, warehouses, or food businesses with agile and operational structures.
  • Having worked with fruit, vegetables, or other perishable products, directly managing stock, turnover, and purchasing needs.
  • Knowledge of suppliers, origin markets, seasons, or typical purchasing dynamics of the fruit and vegetable sector.

What you'll get

  • Because your decisions will be noticed every day in the warehouse. What you buy, when, and in what quantity conditions product availability, its turnover, shrinkage, and service to each point of sale.
  • Because here you do not buy from a stable catalog. You work with perishable products, subject to seasons, qualities, availability, and prices that change continuously. You must decide, adjust quantities, and know the product well so that stock rotates and does not end up becoming shrinkage.
  • Because here purchases are not managed from afar. You will be close to the product, the warehouse, sales, and Management, making decisions and resolving the needs presented by each working day.
  • Because you will find a stable project, with an indefinite contract and full-time employment, in which you can contribute experience and judgment to a role very closely linked to the daily business.

The role

Fruit does not wait. And neither does a good purchase.

When you work with fresh products, buying well is not just about getting a good price. You have to know the product, understand its timing, calculate how much you need, and know that what fills the warehouse today must be moving tomorrow.

At SiLosTienes, we are selecting a Purchasing Manager for a consolidated Extremaduran company in the wholesale distribution of fruit and vegetables, with a workplace in Plasencia.

We are looking for a person accustomed to making purchases, not just supervising them. Someone very close to the product and the daily operation of the business, capable of directly managing suppliers, procurement needs, stock, and incidents, in continuous coordination with Management, the warehouse, and the sales team.

What you'll do

You will have an especially sensitive responsibility within the business: ensuring there is enough product, that it is suitable, and that it arrives at the necessary time, avoiding both shortages and excesses in a sector where turnover counts—and a lot. Among your duties:

  • Manage the purchase of fruit, vegetables, and other products marketed by the company.
  • Maintain regular contact and negotiation with suppliers, evaluating product, availability, price, quality, and purchasing conditions.
  • Review the needs of each point of sale and coordinate from the central warehouse the product that must be supplied to each one.
  • Control stock and turnover, adjusting purchases to avoid product shortages, overstock, and unnecessary shrinkage.
  • Anticipate possible merchandise shortages, excess stock, or supply incidents and seek alternatives when necessary.
  • Maintain direct communication with the warehouse, sales, and Management regarding product needs, incidents, and relevant purchasing decisions.
  • Perform occasional visits to suppliers and production areas when necessary.
