At TECNALIA, we want to strengthen our team in the "Next Generation Factories" Business Area, whose mission is to generate new business opportunities arising from the new challenges that the Industrial sector must face in order to address the transition towards the new Proactive Factory, a conscious, flexible, and connected factory where digital transformation plays a key role. To this end, we are looking for an Engineer with a desire to grow, with a background in industrial environments, automation, and robotics. The objective of this position is to integrate the world of traditional control engineering with the new Artificial Intelligence technologies. We are looking for someone with a junior profile, but with the capacity to learn, technical curiosity, and the potential to become a reference person in the OT/IT convergence of the organization.

What you will do

Your main functions will be oriented towards the design and deployment of intelligent systems in an industrial environment evolving towards factories capable of anticipating:

Industrial AI Development: Implementation of AI agents (vision, time series, optimization) to close the control loop of equipment in factories (presses, welding, robots, etc.) and optimization of operational processes (intelligent SPC). Coordination of cyber-physical and multi-robot systems.

Advanced Logistics Management: Design and integration of intelligent logistics flows (AGVs/AMRs, cobots, and humanoids) integrated with plant management systems.

Automation Engineering: Conversion of manual tasks into automatic sequences and design of robotic workstations.

Vision Systems and Digitalization: Integration of artificial vision and AI strategies for quality control and predictive maintenance.

Collaborate on complex research projects that integrate (robots + humanoids + AGVs + cranes + vision + PLCs + AI + IIoT) and automate complete production flows along with their maintenance and quality controls.

Education: Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Automation, Control, Robotics, or a related technical qualification. A Master's degree in Industry 4.0, AI, robotics, or digital transformation will be positively valued.

Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Knowledge of German will be valued.

Having completed academic projects, Final Degree/Master's Thesis (TFG/TFM), or professional internships related to the programming and integration of industrial or collaborative robotics.

Interest in and initial approach to the deployment of autonomous systems (AGVs, AMRs) or process automation.

Demonstrated skills in solving technical problems through hardware and software integration (e.g., use of PLCs, sensors, or microcontrollers in an educational or professional environment).

Robotics and Automation: Knowledge of the operation of industrial robots and cobots.

Industrial Communications: Theoretical or practical knowledge of network protocols (such as OPC-UA, MQTT, Profinet, or Modbus TCP).

AI and IIoT: Knowledge of the application of Artificial Intelligence in industry and basic concepts of real-time data capture (IoT).

Systems and Infrastructure: Familiarity with the architecture of industrial systems (PLCs, SCADA) and basic concepts of virtualization or cloud (Cloud) or edge services.

Cybersecurity: Interest in or basic knowledge of information security applied to industrial environments.

Knowledge of assembly, welding, and stamping processes will be positively valued.

En TECNALIA queremos reforzar nuestro equipo del Área de Negocio de “Next Generation Factories” cuya misión es generar nuevas oportunidades de negocio derivadas de los nuevos retos que debe afrontar el sector Industrial para abordar la transición hacia la nueva Proactive Factory, una fábrica consciente, flexible y conectada donde la trasformación digital juega un papel clave. Para ello buscamos un/a Ingeniero/a con ganas de crecer, con base en entornos industriales, automatización y robótica. El objetivo de esta posición es integrar el mundo de la ingeniería de control tradicional con las nuevas tecnologías de Inteligencia Artificial. Buscamos a alguien con un perfil junior, pero con capacidad de aprendizaje, curiosidad técnica y potencial para convertirse en una persona de referencia en la convergencia OT/IT de la organización.

Qué harás

Tus funciones principales estarán orientadas al diseño y despliegue de sistemas inteligentes en entorno industrial en evolución hacia fábricas que sean capaces de anticiparse:

Desarrollo de IA Industrial: Implementación de agentes de IA (visión, series temporales, optimización) para cerrar el bucle de control de equipamientos en las fábricas (prensas, soldadura, robots,etc. ) y optimización de procesos operativos (SPC inteligente). Coordinación de sistemas ciberfísicos y multi-robot.

Gestión de Logística Avanzada: Diseño e integración de flujos logísticos inteligentes (AGVs/AMRs, cobots y humanoides) integrados con los sistemas de gestión de planta.

Ingeniería de Automatización: Conversión de tareas manuales en secuencias automáticas y diseño de estaciones de trabajo robotizadas.

Sistemas de Visión y Digitalización: Integración de visión artificial y estrategias de IA para el control de calidad y mantenimiento predictivo.

Colaborar en proyectos de investigación complejos que integren (robots + humanoides + AGVs + gruas + + visión + PLCs + AI + IIoT) y automaticen flujos de producción completos junto con sus controles de mantenimiento y calidad.

Formación: Grado y/o Máster en Ingeniería Industrial, Automatización, Control, Robótica o titulación técnica afín. Se valorará positivamente Máster en industria 4.0, IA, robótica o transformación digital.

Idiomas:

Dominio de inglés hablado y escrito.

Se valorará conocimientos de alemán.

I+D

Haber realizado proyectos académicos, TFG/TFM o prácticas profesionales relacionados con la programación e integración de robótica industrial o colaborativa.

Interés y primera aproximación al despliegue de sistemas autónomos (AGVs, AMRs) o automatización de procesos.

Habilidades demostradas en la resolución de problemas técnicos mediante la integración de hardware y software (ej. uso de PLCs, sensores o microcontroladores en entorno educativo o profesional).

Robótica y Automatización: conocimientos en el funcionamiento de robots industriales y cobots.
