About the role
Within the VBI-Carrier Sub-Sea development team, this role’s purpose is to drive growth, identify and drive new business opportunities within Vodafone’s sub-sea business. Responsible for the construction, deployment and sale of large international fibre optic cables, both subsea and terrestrial. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commercial background in business development and technical understanding of fibre optic networks. This senior role will involve identifying development opportunities, championing them to C-level (internally and externally), negotiating contracts and delivering budgets, whilst working closely with technical and legal teams to drive margin growth and ensure project success.
What you'll do
- Develop and implement clear commercial strategies to drive growth initiatives that deliver agreed revenue and margin targets.
- Develop industry partnerships and senior relationships to align with VBI Carrier growth strategy. Manage internal stakeholders across different functions to ensure buy in.
- Coordinate and lead complex commercial negotiations with customers and suppliers.
- Act as the Commercial Lead on high risk and complex bid opportunities, managing a virtual commercial bid team from qualification to contract signature.
What we're looking for
- Knowledge of Commercial contracts within the Telecoms Market, strong analytical decision-making skills and understanding of key risks.
- Financial modelling experience with the ability to take a financial model from creation, through governance and approval.
- Background in delivering innovative commercial propositions in high pace and constant change environments.
- Excellent relationship builder, with the necessary personal impact to build credibility both within VBI, across other Vodafone functions and externally with the ability to negotiate at a Senior Leadership level
Education & certifications
- 5+ years’ experience developing compelling commercial propositions.
- 24+ months experience of managing change or operating in a rapidly changing environment, such as a major corporate reorganisation or start up.
- Demonstrate expert industry knowledge in a mobile, fixed line or converged telecommunications environment, including commercial issues affecting a deal.
- Computer skills, including a high level of Excel commercial modelling skills, and relevant system knowledge
- Graduate Degree. MSc or MBA / professional accounting qualification (e.g. CIMA) preferred.
