Geotechnical Monitoring Technician

What profile are we looking for?

Training and Knowledge:

• 3-5 years of experience in operational positions in the area of geotechnics and geology.

Experience:

• Degree in Geology or Geotechnical Engineering.
• Knowledge of mining operation methodology.
• Knowledge of relevant geotechnical software.

• Valuable knowledge of health and safety standards specific to the mining sector, as well as current environmental regulations of the mining sector.

What will your mission be?

Under the dependency of the Coordinator, as a member of the geotechnical monitoring team, you must perform real-time geotechnical evaluation of mining activities, generating the necessary reports for correct decision-making in mining operations, and, following the guidelines of your direct supervisor, taking the measures that allow for compliance with the short, medium, and long-term Production Plan, in accordance with current regulations, Safety, Quality, and Environmental policies, and the guidelines set by Management.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

• Supervise in real time the activities carried out in the pit, through the use of geotechnical monitoring systems, controlling the geotechnical safety of the work areas.
• Communicate to your direct supervisor and mine supervision any detected situation that may pose a safety risk in the supervised areas.
• Continuous evaluation of the geotechnical conditions produced by the constant development of the mine.
• Perform daily visual inspections. Generate the necessary reports from these inspections.
• Perform the daily instrumentation status report.
• Perform the daily prism report.
• Accompany during monthly visits with Applus auditors (for the issuance of the monthly pit and waste dump report), which is normally made to coincide with one of the weekly visits.
• Sending information to Applus and Subterra for the preparation of monthly and weekly reports.
• Keep the instrumentation database (piezometry, inclinometers, proctor, etc.) up to date.
• Perform the weekly PEV report.
• Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities.
• Fulfill the assigned field leadership activity objectives.
