About the role

Job description

The Artificial Intelligence Directorate needs to recruit two people for the Coordinator position, based in Barcelona.

We are looking for a profile with a vocation for technical and people leadership, capable of accelerating VidaCaixa's AI-driven transformation through the design, development and implementation of high-impact solutions based on data, advanced analytics and artificial intelligence. This position sits at the intersection of excellence in AI solution engineering, a focus on generating real business value, and the ability to help a team grow in ambition, autonomy and quality of execution.

What will your purpose be within VidaCaixa?

What you'll do

  1. Excellence in software development for Artificial Intelligence projects

You will be a reference in building robust, maintainable and scalable AI solutions. We are looking for someone with a genuine interest in developing products and capabilities based on artificial intelligence, with curiosity to explore state-of-the-art approaches and the judgement to turn them into useful, industrialisable and sustainable solutions over time.

We expect a broad vision of technological possibilities, able to move confidently between analytics, business intelligence, predictive AI, generative AI and agent use cases, selecting the most appropriate approach in each context. We particularly value the ability to raise the technical standard of the area: challenging decisions when necessary, driving homogeneous architectures, promoting component reuse and ensuring good development, testing, documentation and productionisation practices.

The person hired should contribute not only to leading projects, but also to building a way of working: more solid, more scalable and product-oriented.

  1. Focus on business impact

This position requires a mindset clearly oriented towards generating organisational impact. We are not only looking for someone who builds technically powerful solutions, but someone motivated to understand where the value lies, how to capture it and how to ensure it materialises in the company's real operations.

We expect a proactive attitude to explore processes, functions and business areas in order to identify opportunities for applying AI and advanced analytics. It will also be key to maintain an outward-looking perspective to identify relevant solutions, trends and practices, and to critically assess their applicability in the internal context.

Furthermore, this role should drive the effective adoption of solutions, supporting client areas through change, managing expectations, aligning priorities and ensuring that developments translate into tangible improvement, efficiency, scalability or competitive advantage. In short, you are expected to have the ability to connect technology with return.

  1. Quality in people management

The Coordinator role requires a clear vocation for people development. We are looking for someone capable of guiding the team (+/- 8 PAX) both functionally and technically, raising the level of expectation without losing closeness, and creating an environment where individual growth and collective quality advance together.

We expect the ability to support profiles at different levels of maturity, help them prioritise, give them context, challenge them with sound judgement and define clear professional development milestones. The ideal person dedicates quality time to challenge, feedback and team evolution, understanding that building capabilities is as important as delivering projects.

It will also be important to know how to manage risks, detect blockers, hold difficult conversations when necessary and act responsibly in moments of tension or ambiguity. We want to bring in a generous, demanding and balanced person who wants to grow on a leadership track and contribute to building an increasingly solid, autonomous team ready for more complex challenges.

Requirements

You are the talent we are looking for if you have…

University education in STEM (Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, Physics or related disciplines), or an equivalent track record with strong analytical specialisation.

Previous experience in Data Scientist, Machine Learning Engineer or AI Engineer positions, with real exposure to data and artificial intelligence projects.

High initiative, organisational skills and a clear results orientation, combining autonomy with judgement to prioritise in demanding environments.

A rigorous, structured and solution-oriented mindset, with the ability to move between strategic vision and execution.

Previous experience in the banking, insurance or highly regulated sectors will be positively valued.

Development

Proven experience in the end-to-end development of ML/AI projects that have reached production, from understanding the business problem to implementation and monitoring of the solution.

Advanced command of Python and the usual AI/ML library ecosystem, as well as the judgement to select appropriate tools and patterns according to the use case.

Solid knowledge of good programming and software design practices: maintainable code, modularity, testing, SOLID principles, readability and scalability.

Experience with version control tools and collaborative work on code (for example, Git, Bitbucket or equivalents).

Additional experience in solution industrialisation will be especially valued: APIs, containers, cloud environments, observability, deployment and maintenance in production.

Knowledge of SQL, visualisation tools and experience working with modern architectures oriented towards data or AI products will also be valued.

Business impact

A genuine interest in understanding how organisations work, their processes and their value levers, beyond the purely technical component.

Communication, influence and alignment skills with diverse stakeholders. Ability to translate ambiguous business needs into concrete analytics and artificial intelligence opportunities.

Ease in building credibility, defending proposals with sound judgement and supporting areas in the adoption of new solutions.

Natural curiosity, an exploratory mindset and a proactive attitude to identify new opportunities, both inside and outside the organisation.

Sensitivity to measuring impact, prioritising by value and directing the team's efforts towards initiatives with real return.

People impact

Ease of working in a team and coordinating initiatives with cross-functional teams, promoting collaboration, clarity of roles and focus on delivery.

Formal prior experience in people management is not essential, but a genuine interest, maturity and willingness to progressively take on leadership responsibilities will be required.

Ability to support, develop and challenge others with generosity and high standards, helping to raise the team's technical and professional level while fostering its autonomy.

Ability to provide quality feedback, detect risks, hold complex conversations when necessary and act calmly in scenarios of pressure or change.
