Job description

Our company

We are the largest Spanish airline and leader between Europe and Latin America; we belong to the IAG airline group and are part of the oneworld alliance. Our goal is to always be the best travel option for our customers and to make them feel that what matters most to us is their safety and the quality and experience of their journey. In addition to the airline, we also have aircraft maintenance as a complementary business.

At Iberia, we value that our professionals are an example of behaviors for customers, but also within the team. We expect all new hires to be an example of these.

Your role:

As an Internal Billing Specialist, your main mission will be to lead the coordination, improvement, and supervision of the economic, accounting, and operational processes associated with interline activity, sales, refunds, fees, sales audits, and settlements. You will act as the technical and functional reference for the area, ensuring the correct application of agreements, internal controls, and settlement criteria, as well as the reliability and traceability of information.

Likewise, you will ensure the protection of Iberia's economic interests in its relationship with agencies, suppliers, other airlines, and settlement organizations, driving operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement of the processes under your responsibility.

Your challenges:

Manage Interline, Sales, Settlements, and Controls

  • Manage, coordinate, and supervise the activities of the managers in the areas of interline, sales, sales audits, fees, and settlements.
  • Act as the technical and functional reference regarding interline agreements, sales, refunds, fees, settlements, audits, and internal controls.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable internal controls (SCIIF) in the area.
  • Define priorities, coordinate workloads, and ensure the proper distribution of responsibilities within the team.
  • Ensure the traceability, reliability, and quality of information used in interline, sales, fee, and settlement processes.
  • Protect Iberia's economic interests in billing, settlement, audit, and relationship processes with third-party companies.
  • Promote improvements in control, settlement, audit, accounting, and monitoring processes for interline, sales, fee, and sales audit activities.

Manage and coordinate the interline process with third-party companies.

  • Supervise the correct application of all interline agreements, ensuring the proper economic, accounting, fiscal, and operational settlement of transactions with other airlines.
  • Coordinate the area's participation in the definition and establishment of interline agreements with third-party companies, including Oneworld (OW).
  • Agree, together with third-party companies, on the calculation, proration, billing, and settlement processes applicable to interline agreements.
  • Manage the interpretation processes of interline agreements in a coordinated manner with third-party companies, ensuring a homogeneous application of the agreed terms.
  • Manage quality control in the loading of SPAs, MPAs, and other specific agreements, ensuring the correct application of proration carried out by the PRA system.
  • Coordinate the audit of interline chargebacks and the OW process, supervising the management of discrepancies with other airlines and coordinating correspondence with non-Oneworld companies, acting as the escalation point for relevant discrepancies, incidents, or differences in interpretation with third-party companies.
  • Control the quality of outsourced or shared processes with suppliers and collaborating areas, coordinating incidents and corrective actions.

Manage and coordinate sales and refund controls.

  • Supervise BSP, NDC, and own sales points settlements.
  • Coordinate the accounting review of operations associated with sales, refunds, and settlements.
  • Supervise the correct VAT settlement through the SII (Immediate Supply of Information) system.
  • Coordinate the control of ticket fees, their settlement by sales channel, and support in country audits.
  • Manage sales audits, fees, and controls, and supervise processes carried out by external providers (GBS).
  • Manage ADMs and ACMs with agencies and incentives.

Cross-functional collaboration with the Alliances and Commercial area.

Your knowledge:

  • University education in Mathematics, Engineering, or Economics.
  • Advanced English, C1 level.
  • Demonstrated experience applying data and process analysis.
  • Experience in designing process automations based on logical systems using SQL.

• Proven experience in management and analysis of accounting processes using SAP

  • Experience in process innovation using ChatGPT.
  • Required qualifications:
  • Knowledge of Revenue Accounting
  • Knowledge of Proration and interline agreements between airlines and the IATA proration standard.

Talent at Iberia:

We value that our professionals are an example of behaviors for customers, but also within the team. We expect all new hires to be an example of these.

  • We are one and diverse: You work in a coordinated, open, and collaborative manner pursuing a common goal in a diverse and inclusive environment.
