About the role

We connect the present. We shape the future.

Have you ever wondered what makes it possible for millions of people to be connected at the same time, from anywhere in the world, without anything failing?

At Telefónica, we make it possible.

We are a global telecommunications and technology company that connects people, businesses, and communities through next-generation networks and advanced digital solutions such as cloud, artificial intelligence, IoT, and cybersecurity.

With over 100 years of history, we work every day to put innovation at the service of society, driving a responsible, sustainable digital transformation with real impact.

Here we don't just design infrastructure—we design the future. We are looking for people who are curious, enthusiastic, and passionate about what they do, who are never satisfied with the status quo and want to build the Telefónica of tomorrow.

If you are passionate about technology that transforms lives, this is your place.

What will your mission be? 🎯

Your mission will be to contribute to the creation and establishment of a data, analytics, and AI strategy applied to circularity programs within the Supply Chain, contributing to data analysis, information structuring, and the generation of analytical models that support circularity initiatives in the area.

You will participate in the development of data collection and analysis models for the secondary market, predictive models for equipment buyback and resale, price intelligence, and equipment classification models using data and AI. You will help turn operational and market information into insights to improve reuse decision-making.

You will also support the identification and prioritization of use cases related to reuse, refurbishment, buyback, resale, recycling, and best routing of equipment, with the aim of maximizing the economic and environmental value of managed assets.

What you'll do

How will you contribute with your skills to the purpose of the scholarship? 💼

The project consists of structuring and developing analytical models that integrate internal, operational, and market data to turn them into use cases applicable to the circular economy and value generation in the supply chain. It relies heavily on data analytics, AI, predictive models, and visualization/reporting tools for decision-making on reuse, buyback, resale, recycling, and residual value management throughout the entire lifecycle, through activities such as:

You will develop analytical models for capturing market prices, analyzing external references, depreciation curves, price intelligence, and predictive models for equipment residual value.

You will structure asset and process data assessment models: identifying sources, data cleaning, normalization, gap detection, classification, and data preparation for advanced analysis using exponential technologies.

You will contribute to predictive models for resale and buyback prices, identifying relevant variables (e.g., age, condition, demand, technology, obsolescence, availability) and secondary market behavior.

You will design data models to capture and structure internal demand for equipment with reuse potential, connecting operational needs with available inventories and reuse opportunities.

You will participate in defining a standardized circularity reporting model applicable to different geographies, units, or equipment categories.

You will develop dashboards and monitoring reports on circularity KPIs, reuse, refurbishment, resale, recycling, cost savings, waste reduction, and emissions reduction.

You will create best routing rules to determine the optimal destination for equipment: internal reuse, refurbishment, resale, donation, recycling, or final disposal.

You will prepare analyses and use cases that facilitate decision-making and prioritization of pilots within the area.

About the company & team

The Global Supply Chain & Procurement Transformation area at Telefonica drives the evolution of Telefonica's supply chain toward a more efficient, digital, sustainable, and circular model. This area transforms global Supply Chain and Procurement processes through data, automation, AI, advanced analytics, and new forms of collaboration with group countries and suppliers.

In this area, you will see cutting-edge projects in operation that use technologies such as Blockchain, Machine Learning, and AI, which are transforming operations across different Telefonica Group countries. Within the area, we manage different types of equipment, from Network equipment (to provide connectivity services to our customers) to branded devices (routers, STBs, among others) and mobile phones, distributed across the geographies where we operate.

We promote and develop circular management models that seek to maximize the value of equipment and materials throughout their entire lifecycle, generating operational efficiencies and new business opportunities. We foster a space for analysis, experimentation, and development of solutions to maximize asset value, transforming scattered data into actionable knowledge to capture economic value, reduce waste, lower emissions, and facilitate the reuse or resale of managed equipment.
